Funeral for Abylene Jones, 74, of Moulton will be Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Turner officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones, who died Monday, March 8, 2010, was born May 13, 1935, in Lawrence County to James Paul Gillespie and Minnie Elizabeth Melson Gillespie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Jones; brother, Gene Gillespie; and two sisters, Lola Singletary and Oreatha Bryant. She was a special mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She devoted her life to caring for her special needs daughter, Patsy. Survivors include one son, Dexter Jones and wife, Debra, of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Patsy Jones and LaShawn Douglas and husband, Jerry, both of Moulton; two brothers, Mike Gillespie and wife, Jan, and Anthony Gillespie; five sisters, Juanita Barrow, Von Holland and husband, Norman, Pauline Smith and husband, David, Brenda Turner and husband, Wayne, and Gwen Ooten; nine grandchildren, David, Angelia, Patrick, Crystal, Latasha, Lakeisha, Michael, Jennifer and Belinda; eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Patrick Jones, David Jones, Bill Barrett, Ty Barrett, Jody Jones, Brian Gillespie, Greg Gillespie and Anthony Parker.
