Alpha Anita Darby age 96 of Florence passed away on Thursday May 29, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday May 31, 2014 at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence from Noon till 2:00 P.M. Services will be in the chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Greg Woodall and Cliff Miles officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence E. Darby Sr. and beloved grand daughter Ashley Anita Darby. Parents; John Mack Wilbanks and Icy Murphy Wilbanks. Sisters; Catherine Arnold, Hattie Mae Darby, Mary Staggs, and Clara Staggs. Brothers; Mack Wilbanks, John L. Wilbanks, Jean Wilbanks, Elam Wilbanks and Alvin Wilbanks.

Mrs. Darby is survived by her seven children; Clarence E. Darby Jr. (Teresa), Jerri Mae Moore (Jerry), Patricia Cloud, Mary Duke (Johnny), Anne Wiley (Ronnie), Wanda Wright (Eddie) and Glenda Miller (Thomas). Sister; Juanita Reatherford. Grandchildren; Greg Miller (Suzanne), Eric Miller (Jessica), Tammy Campbell (Andy), Tonya Graham (Keith), Tim Fowler, Dale Fowler, Joel Fowler, Misty Bradford, Jonathan Duke (Laura), Vickie Langston (Jason), Donna Murdock (Steve), Charlotte Evans (Vernon), Stacy Stutts, Chris Moore (Lori), Jason Moore (Krystle), Josh Moore (Haley), Tara Glover (Clay) and Heather Dodson (Will). Thirty Four Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of Florence Assembly of God and also attended services at El Reposo. Anita loved to ride and visit friends and family, going out at least twice a week until approximately three weeks preceding her death. She enjoyed riding thru Joe Wheeler State Park and watching the deer. She loved flowers and all animals. Especially the birds that perched outside her window at El Reposo. She loved to cook, do needle point and word find. Everyone who knew Anita or interfaced with her enjoyed her wit and friendship. She often visited her numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren and always enlightened their days.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Graham, Chris Moore, Jason Moore, Jonathan Duke, Greg Miller, Eric Miller, Patric Langston, Josh Moore and Clay Glover.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the management and many staff members at El Reposo Nursing Facility, where Anita had made many close friends and had many special memories.
