Mrs. Alva Dean Alexander, age 83, of Kingtown, passed away at her daughter''s home on Friday morning, October 7, 2011. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Andy Erwin officiating. Mrs. Alexander''s family was very dear to her and she was very dear to them. She was born in Anderson, Alabama to C.B. and Ethel Hammond. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Darvis Jean McDaniel and her husband Earl Alexander. She is survived by a daughter Joyce Walton and husband Cecil of Rogersville; a son Robert Alexander; grandchildren Jennifer Sherrill and husband Tracey of Center Star, Emily Hall of Rogersville, and Erin Alexander; great-grandchildren Katie and Maggie Sherrill, Alex Walton, Mackenzie Hall, Cael Laxton and Arlo Laxton; an aunt Elaine Hammond of Maitland, Florida; nephews Guy McDaniel of Center Star and Greg McDaniel of Moulton. The family would like to thank Dr. Mitch Bowen, Southern Care Hospice, helpful family members, concerned church members and the Lexington Rescue Squad for their care.
