Andrew Jackson Akins, Jr., 87, of Florence died Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at NAMC.

Visitation will be Friday, September 17, 2021, 1-2 PM at Pine Hill Church of Christ, 1024 County Road 10, Waterloo, Alabama 35677.  Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Bro. Steve McFall officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors.  Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Akins retired from the US Army with 20 years of service.  He served during the Vietnam Era.  He was a member of the Pine Hill Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Quava Faires Akins; dad, Andrew Jackson Akins, Sr,; mother, Susie Barrs Garrard; brother, Olen Akins; sisters, Lorena Spivey, Mary Douglas, Estelle Carver, Charlotte Forrest.

Mr. Akins is survived by his children, Randy Akins (very special daughter-in-law, Kim) and Tammy Akins; grandchildren, Samantha Putman (Donnie), Blake Akins (Katie), Kyle Smith, and Bryant Reding; great-grandchildren, Jackson Holt, Katelynn Putman, Ellie Putman, and Reid Akins; brother-in-law, Donnie Forrest; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Stricklin, Blake Akins, Donnie Putman, Kevin Faires, Daryl Crittenden, and Bryant Reding.
