OBITUARY ANNE MARGARETTE W. HARAWAY
Anne Margarette Whitehead Haraway, 90, died Wednesday, July 1, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth NRC.
She was a life long resident of Lauderdale County, Alabama and a member of Old Mt. Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked as sales clerk, grocery cashier and rural housewife. She was a talented seamstress and craftsperson.
Mrs. Haraway was preceded in death by her parents, D.N. "Neally" and Mary Jane Thornton Whitehead, her husband, Braxton Comer Haraway, daughter Linda Gail Springer, and grandson Michael Robyn Springer.
Survivors include her children Rebecca A. Butler, Harris O. Haraway (Claudia), Brunswick, GA, and Ronnie B. Haraway, Rogersville, AL; son-in-law, Will David Springer, Killen, AL; grandchildren, Randall W. Moss (Jeannine), Valerie H. Whitehead (Mike), Harris O. "Neal" Haraway, Jr. (Becky) of Brunswick, GA., Beverly S. Davis (James E.), Rogersville, AL, Margaux H. Green (Kent, Jr.), Brazoria, TX and Amanda Haraway, Athens, AL, 10 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Millinea White, Florence, AL; brothers-in-law, Edward B. Haraway, Turner L. Hannah; sister-in-law, Geraldine H. White, all of Rogersville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Gary White, James Whitehead, Andy Hannah, Josh Crowson, Chris Phillips, and Neal Stephens.
Funeral services for Mrs. Haraway will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Rev. Terry Herston will officiate. Burial will follow in Ingram-Thornton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. Friday until service time.
The family would like to thank the staff at MHNRC, station 2 and Dr. Bartmess for their long time care of Mrs. Haraway.
