Annie R. Thomas (Nee: Matthews), 83, passed away Wednesday, Nov 4, 2015 in St. Louis Missouri. Annie was preceded in death by her parents George and Bertha Matthews (nee: Evett) her husband of 25 years John L. Thomas, and siblings Clarence Matthews, Emmer Milligan and grandson Christopher A. Sloan.
Dear mother to Louise (Michael) Sloan, Bill (Judy) Thomas and Liz Thomas; grandmother of John M. Sloan, Shawn (Elaina) Sloan and Becky (Josh) Johnson; great grandmother to Jadyn Johnson, Jaxon Johnson and Brennan Sloan; dear sister to Viola Willbanks, beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and many lifetime friends, especially Margaret Vlodek and Rosemary Capriglione.
Annie grew up in Alabama . Annie and John were married in 1952 and in Aug 1967 the family moved to Florissant MO
She enjoyed lots of color, music and dancing and she was known as the "Dancing Lady" at NHC, Maryland Heights. In 2011 she won The Florissant Beautification Award for her yard. She has requested festive colors at her visitation and funeral.
Celebration of Life will be at Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Road, Florissant on Saturday, Nov 7 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm and on Tuesday Nov 10, 10-12:00 noon at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home with Funeral Service held Tuesday, Nov 10 at noon at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur AL.
