Barbara Cooper, age 57 of Florence, passed away Tuesday at ECM Hospital after an extended illness.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cooper will be at Elkins East Chapel, Friday November 27, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Daniel Gaines will officiate. Burial will follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-12 prior to the service time.
Barbara was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, a retired school cafeteria worker and she was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Barbara enjoyed collecting antiques and cooking for her family and others.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Hoover Hice; grandparents, Jim and Mattie Hice and Martha Robbins.
She is survived by her husband Brandon Dale Cooper; daughter, Christie Ann Walters and husband Ben, Antioch, TN; son, Brian Dale Cooper and wife, Cassie, Florence; sisters, Mary Louise Rice and husband James, Center Star, Shirley Ann Murphy, Florence; mother, Mary Levolen Robbins Hice, Florence; two nieces and two nephews; special friend Martha Sue Raley; pet, Maizee May; grand dogs, Scrappy Jack and Eight Ball.
Pallbearers will be Doug Hice, Jerry Hice, Justin Phillips, Mark Turner, Gerry Holt and Chad Holt.
Barbara''s family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Tim Martin, Dr. Daugherty, Dr. Patel, Dr. Hagler, the staff at Northwest Alabama Cancer Center and 6th floor west nurses, the staff at ECM Hospital and also ICU nurses for the love and care given during her illness.
