Barbara Gayle Golden, 82, was born September 15, 1943, and passed away on October 6, 2025. She was born in Decatur, AL, to parents the late W.B. and Learon Golden.

A private family graveside service will be on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama.

Ms. Golden worked as a registered nurse with a career primarily dedicated to adolescents in the states of Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana. She retired from the State of Alabama, Department of Youth Services. She was baptized by Pastor Eddie Gillenwater at Eastern Oaks Baptist Church.

Ms. Golden was preceded in death by her father, W.B. Golden; mother, Learon Moses Golden; one sister, Sara Byford; one nephew, Billy Joe Byford; and one niece Deborah "Debi" Byford; and her beloved dogs Sissy, Jake, and JoJo.

She is survived by one daughter, Deanna Austin Wallace (Roy); one son, Edward Austin (Linnea); and five grandsons, Ian, Tyler, Taylor, Riley and Ryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brookdale Cedar Springs in Decatur, Alabama or to Decatur Animal Services.
