Mrs. Barbara Lee Newton, 73, of Florence, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009. The visitation for Mrs. Newton will be Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 6 pm till 9 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 22, 2009 with burial following at Murphy''s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Newton is preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Newton, Sr., parents, Stanley and Florence Doleski; son, Stanley Newton; and daughter, Nita Joyce Newton. She was an animal activist and she loved speaking out for the rights and care of children. Barbara was a member of the Baptist faith. She was first blessed with her journey with Jesus Christ. She also loved serving, gardening, and caring for her great grandkids.
Barbara is survived by her sons Joe H. Newton, Jr., and Bobbie and Deborah Newton; her daughter, Deborah and Bill Miller; her grandchildren, Bobby G. Newton, Sr., David Miller, William Joseph Newton and spouse Allison, Heather Miller, and Eric Kelley; great grandchildren, Bobby Gene Newton, Jr., Caitlin Brook Newton, Dustin Joseph Newton, and Alysa, fourteen nieces and nephews and her special friend, Ella Mae Frazier. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Cleveland, Dr. Holden, the very special care and compassion given by the nursing staff at ICU and CTRU of ECM Hospital.
