Bertis Lee Bevis, Jr., 61, of Bremen, Alabama passed away Monday morning, July 28, 2008 at his home from pancreatic cancer.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mac Buttram officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Bertis was a Rogers High School graduate and graduated from Florence State University in 1972. He taught at Deshler High School and was teaching at the Huntsville Center for Technology, Huntsville City Schools.
He is survived by his wife Monica Kelley Bevis; son Bertis Lee Bevis, III, Bremen; mother Jessie P. Bevis, Florence; sister Judy Melvin and husband Bobby, Florence; nieces Jessica Brink and Brandi Kelley; nephews Sean and Ian Kelley.
Pallbearers will be Lance Young, Dos Young, Herbert Floyd, Phillip Daniels, Warren Sadler and John Stingle.
