Betty Jo Mason, age 89, died peacefully on Thursday morning, September 24, 2015, at Riverwood Assisted Living in Rome, Georgia.

Betty Jo was born on February 23, 1926 in Florence, Alabama the youngest child of Benjamin Franklin Mason and Opha Roberts Mason. She graduated from Coffee High School and spent most of her life in Florence. Betty Jo worked for Stylon for 13 years and in 1970 took over the management of Quality Cleaners, the family business, until she retired.

Betty Jo loved nature, particularly birds and waterfalls. She was an adventuresome traveler who enjoyed new experiences.

Betty Jo is survived by her sister, Elaine Wilson, Huntsville, Alabama. Her nieces and nephews have fond memories of her poetry reading and sense of humor: Judy Moore, Ellen Treadway, Cam Walker, Pat Casteel, Patsy Brockwell, Ben Harrison, Gary Casteel & Dan Casteel. Sybil Cloukia of Leoma, Tennessee was a lifelong friend.

Betty Jo was a member of North Wood United Methodist Church. Graveside and internment services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Florence City Cemetery with Reverend Kenny Baskins officiating.
