Funeral for Betty Joyce Russell Whisenant, 73, of Decatur will be Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Chapel with Bobby Newsom officiating. Burial will be in Raper Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Whisenant, who died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, was born July 26, 1934, in Morgan County to the late M.J. Russell and Virginia Landers Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Whisenant; three brothers, Irvin Russell, Mack Russell and H.M. Russell; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Bolton and Christine Lawrence. Survivors include one sister, Virginia Russell Terry; stepsons, Lannie Whisenant and Barry Whisenant, both of Decatur; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
