Betty Sue Yarbrough Holland Fieger Decatur
Betty Sue Yarbrough Holland Fieger passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the age of 79. Born in Decatur on October 29, 1931, she graduated from Decatur High School in 1948.
Mrs. Fieger served 30 years as a government civil servant at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. She transferred to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1972 where she worked for the Social Security Administration until retirement in June 1988. She won many distinguished awards for her service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Elijah Yarbrough and Mary Kate Inman of Decatur; and by three brothers, James Edward Yarbrough of Hartselle, Paul Milton Yarbrough of Florence and Edward Bayne Yarbrough of Decatur.
She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret Ann Fieger and Mary Evelyn Donham, both of Decatur, and her three sons, Tommy Holland of Decatur, Mark Holland and wife, Tina, of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Bob Holland and wife, Mary Jo, of Decatur; five grandchildren, Christi, Kelli, Jeremy, Courtney, and Ashley Holland and three great-grandchildren.
She was known as a generous and special person and it brought her great joy to give to her three boys and their children. Betty Sue will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be friends and nephews, Jimmy Yarbrough, Charles Yarbrough, Andy Yarbrough, Brad Donham, Dale Hallmark. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Yarbrough and Dr. Michael Donham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Yarbrough Holland Fieger's memory to Hospice of the Valley.
Funeral services will be held in Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday November 3rd at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Bro. Ken Bush of Central Park Baptist will be officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
