Funeral for Bettye Crutchfield Sims, 77, of Decatur will be Friday, June 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rich Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Sims, who died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Decatur to Joe and Zola Crutchfield. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. She received her Certified Nursing Certificate at age 62, then worked at Medical Park/Sunbridge for 13 years. She retired to care for the love of her life, Dan. She was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda S. Hill (Arnold) and Leigh Anne Echols (Byron), both of Decatur, and Dana Jo Bailey (Curtis) of Birmingham; brother-in-law, Joe R. Sims (Shelba) of Decatur; one brother, Gilbert M. Crutchfield (Maye) of Tanner; two grandsons, Jason L. Hill of Decatur and Ashley B. Hill of Tuscaloosa, and grandchildren, Victoria, Justin and Josh Echols, all of Decatur; Tony Bolan of Decatur and Peggie Hill, wonderful friend and nurse; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jason Hill, Ashley Hill, Tony Bolan, Marko Sims, Bryan Carpenter and David Tidwell. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Special thank you to Mike Glenn and Hospice of the Valley for loving and caring for our mother.
