Obituary

Rachel Blondell Campbell, 86, departed this life Saturday, January 31, 2009 after a brief illness.
The funeral will be Tuesday, February 3, 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home with Larry Bullard officiating. Burial will follow at Pettus Cemetery, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Campbell was born to her late parents, Dewey and Leola Bynum in Geneva County, Alabama and spent her early years in Columbus, GA. After marrying her late husband, Fulton, (Bill) Campbell, in 1948, they traveled and lived in many locations throughout the south. They returned to Florence, where she has lived more than 55 years. Blondell was a faithful and devoted wife and was loved by all who knew her.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Brady and Grady Bynum; and sister, Elaine Pabon.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her in-laws, Austin and Nellie Campbell, Corrine Campbell, Woodrow Richardson, Dona Campbell, Carlos Pabon; and special friends, the Maurice and Hautie Pounders family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Craig Campbell, Tom Campbell, Randy Polk, Max Roberts, Andy Pounders, and Danny Pounders.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Brown, Dr. Morris and employees of Wiregrass Hospice for the medical care provided. A special thanks to all the caretakers, especially Linda Behel, Monica Garner, Patricia Wilson, and Linda Patton for the kind, loving care given to Mrs. Campbell during her final days.
