Obituary

Candice Cox Kirk was born on November 6, 1954, in Florence, Alabama, and she was a lifelong resident of Rogersville. She passed away peacefully at home.

Candice worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian Army employee and retired after years of dedicated service. After retiring, she checked off a lifelong dream and opened her own boutique in downtown Rogersville. Too Peas was not just a shop to her, it was her happy place. She absolutely loved meeting new faces, talking with people, and making everyone feel welcome. It stayed a special part of the community for 15 years.

Candice was a single mom who poured her life into raising her daughter, Angela. But if you asked her what her greatest joy was, it was being “Mimi.” Her granddaughter was the highlight of her life. Some of her best days were baking in the kitchen, school pick up, and picnics in the car with Autumn.

She was a firm believer in the mountains are calling and I must go and she went every chance she got.

Candice was a member of Rogersville Church of Christ.

Candice is survived by her children Angela Macziewski and her husband Rodney, that is just like a son to her; granddaughter Autumn Macziewski; grandson Zane Macziewski; her mother Vera Jean Cox; brothers Blaine Cox and Gordon Cox (wife Donna); nieces Ashley Railey (husband Matt) and Alecia Cox.

She was preceded in death by her father Leo Cox, her brother Shane Cox, and her grandson Kason Macziewski.

Candice will be laid to rest on Wednesday, March 18th at 2pm at McCartney Cemetery in Rogersville, with Brock Owens officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bassham, Lance Chapman, Stephen Embry, Zane Macziewski, Wendell Siniard, and Jaye Slaton.

The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Compassus Hospice, Dr. Tyler Kirby and his staff at Huntsville Hospital, and Dr. Travis Sims at MD Anderson, and to her special friends who showed up and helped when it mattered most.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can sent to the Lee Coggins Patient Care Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation in Candice’s memory.
