Mr. Carl C. Bailey, age 84, of Florence, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008. The Funeral ceremony for Mr. Bailey will be officiated by Stan Smith on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkins Funeral Home with visitation an hour before the service from 10am until 11am. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Carl was retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company after 42 years. He was a lifelong member of Weeden Heights United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He enjoyed his hobbies of playing golf and singing in the church choir. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the Pacific Campaign in WW II. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ermie Bailey, and his parents, C.C. and Roxie Bailey.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Bailey of Birmingham; son, Carl W. Bailey and wife Wanda of Florence; sister, Jewel Lewis of Florence; grandchildren, Brent Bailey and wife Sue, and Lisa Mallette and husband Steve; great-grandchildren, Abby and Maddy Bailey, and Grace and Caroline Mallette; three nieces and one nephew.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Mitchell-Hollingsworth, and Tara Young. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weeden Heights United Methodist Church or the ECM Hospital Memorial Fund.
