Funeral service for Carl Preston Peebles, 67, of Decatur will be today, Friday, January 7, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Berry officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Peebles, who died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital, was born February 25, 1943, in Morgan County to the late Elbert Lee Peebles and Naomi Jinks Peebles. He was a retired self-employed plumber and electrician and diehard Auburn fan. He was a member of the Priceville High School Basketball team who won the Alabama State Championship in 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Elbert Peebles, Jim Peebles, Fred Peebles, Houston Peebles and Charles Peebles; and one sister, Shirley June Skipworth.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Peebles; one son, Chris Peebles; three daughters, Sandy Peebles, Carla Peebles of Danville, Calif., and Lena Roman; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Peebles of Danville, Calif., Jared Peebles of Lexington, Ky., and Manon Roman; and three sisters, Annie Ruth Edwards, Peggy Chapman and Mildred Madison.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Chapman, Keith Clements, Dale Peebles, Dewayne Skipworth, Sergio Roman and Mike Fallin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Caitlyn Peebles, Jared Peebles, Mannon Roman and Ronnie Peebles.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society
