Funeral service for Ray Adkison, 76, of Decatur will be Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Ray Remke officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Adkison, who died Sunday, December 18, 2011, was born October 14, 1935, in Pike County. He was a member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church and a member of The Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for the Habitat of Humanity and Rebuilding Together. He retired from Universal Construction in December 1999. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Wayne and Jimmy Adkison.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Adkison; three children, Steve Adkison (Jennifer), Greg Adkison (Joanne) and Becky Standridge (Billy); six grandchildren, Bridger, Ally, Jake and Max Adkison, Ethan and Matt McDaniel; two sisters, Claudia Adkison and Shirley Adair; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Nick Adair, Dennis Anderson, Larry Schick, Gene Saywell, Glen Johnson and Dale Dobbs.
