Carol Lee Davis, 70, a well-known Rogersville businessman, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He owned and operated the C.L. Davis Store for 36 years where he enjoyed seeing new and old friends alike. He enjoyed work, at the store and the farm and his wit and compassionate way has been missed since his retirement in 2001. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Scott Moore, Bro. Bobby Walton and Bro. Bertis Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery. C.L. was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rogersville. He is survived by his wife Joan Parrish Davis; children Tony Davis and wife Cathy, Johnny Davis and wife Cindy, Curtis Davis and wife Rachel, Tony Thornton and wife Connie, Chris Thornton and wife Zona, Tammy Miller and husband Larry, and Laura Newton and husband James; twenty-two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter Macy Davis; sister Linda Trousdale; brother Harold Davis and wife Sue. C.L. was preceded in death by his parents Hoyet and Birdie Davis. Pallbearers will be Chad Davis, Chase Davis, Kevin Davis, Nicholas Thornton, Colby Thornton, Josh Russell, Jon Russell, Daniel Clemmons, Tyler Newton, C.J. Thornton, Matthew Davis, Levi Davis and Robert Newton.
