Funeral for Catherine Dean Garrett, 95, of Trinity, will be Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Chapel with Brother Chris Parker officiating. Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel.
Mrs. Garrett, who died Saturday, April 2, 2011, was born May 24, 1915, in Limestone County to Albert and Dellie Bivens. Mrs. Garrett confessed her love for her Lord at an early age. She was married to the love of her life, Lavie Garrett, for 56 years. She and Lavie were married on April 2, 1928. Mrs. Garrett loved gospel music on Sunday morning. She loved gardening. Mrs. Garrett was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband and seven children. The family wishes to thank Hospice of North Alabama for their care of our loved one.
Survivors include two sons, Leo Garrett and wife, Betty, of Moulton and Jerry Garrett and wife, Willard, of Hillsboro; one daughter, Martha Cottingham and husband, Charles, of Danville. Mrs. Garrett leaves behind to cherish her memories 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 49 great-great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Garrett, Allen Amerson, Jake Cottingham, Lynn Cottingham, Dewayne Garrett and Jeremy Cottingham.
