Obituary

Mr. Charles Edwin "Papa" Warren, 67, of Florence, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2009. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The funeral will be at Magnolia Church of Christ, Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 am with Joe Vandyke officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Ethel Warren; sisters, Corinne and Marian Warren; and brother, Lorenz Warren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Warren; son, Charles "Chuck" Warren, Jr. (Leslie); daughter, Elizabeth Oswalt; granddaughter, the light of his life, Mekenzie Oswalt; sister, Sarah Watts; and brothers, Ronald Warren, and Billy Ray Warren.
Charlie was a wonderful loving husband and daddy. He was also a wonderful loving papa to his granddaughter Mekenzie. He fought a long, hard battle with illnesses. He was a hard working English teacher and also worked in the grocery business. Charlie coached youth baseball and football for numerous years, touching the lives of many young men. He was also an avid Alabama and UNA sports fan. He had an endless sense of humor.
Mr. Warren was a faithful servant and member of the Church of Christ who helped by preaching and teaching Sunday school. Billy Heupel, Jack Holder, Matt Davis, Randy Kelsey, Jimmy Hill, and Thomas Wallace will serve as pallbearers.
His family desires to give a special thanks to all who have stood by him, his numerous friends, the nurses and staff of 6th floor at ECM, his "family" at Milner Rushing, Dr. Paul and NP Coan, Dr. Boorgu, Sr. and Dr. Boorgu, Jr., and the nurses and staff at DaVita Dialysis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation.
