Charles William Weisenseel, 76, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010. A memorial service and a celebration of Charlie''s life will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Church.
Charlie was born in New York City to Selma and Charles Weisenseel on December 13, 1933. He graduated from Alfred University with a degree in Ceramic Engineering in 1956. While studying at Alfred he met his wife, Barbara. Charlie and Barbara had five children all born in Jackson, Mississippi. They lived in Jackson; Cambridge, Ohio; El Segundo, California; and Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania before settling in Florence in 1980. He was employed at Monarch Tile where he retired as Vice President of Manufacturing in 1996.
Charlie was devoted to his family and always ready to hit the road for a cheap vacation. His first love was the ocean and bodysurfing. He was an avid card player (not a good loser), a champion teaser, enjoyed good music, gambling, golf and The Price Is Right. His later years were challenging, yet he kept his sense of humor and love of life. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Barbara Radulski Weisenseel; daughters, Nita Chorneau and husband, Tom, Orangevale, CA; Barbara Edwards and husband Blane, Florence; and Susan Brown and husband Ted, Wrightstown, PA; sons Chuck Weisenseel and wife Annette, Tehachapi, CA; and Jason Weisenseel, Nashville, TN; brother Gerald Weisenseel of Palm City, FL; grandchildren, Charlotte Chorneau, Alice Chorneau, Alex Edwards, Owen Edwards, Casey Weisenseel, Max Weisenseel, Randy Yates, Erica Yates, and Madison Weisenseel.
Donations can be made to St. Joseph''s Regional Catholic School Educational Foundation, 115 Plum Street, Florence, AL 35630 or the charity of your choice.
