Charlie Price Alexander was born August 25, 1931 to Tom and Ida Alexander in Lawrence County, Alabama and raised in the New Bethel and Hawk Pride Mountain Communities. He passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010.
Visitation will begin Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Paul Swindle officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
He was an ironworker with local 477 and retired from Reynolds Alloys Co. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He was the co-owner of Jenifer House with his wife Gladys.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife Gladys Hall Alexander; son Glenn Alexander and wife Bonnie, Killen; daughters Jackie Murphy and husband David, Florence, and Jennifer Deatherage and husband Dee, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Mac Murphy and wife Kai, Will Alexander and wife Katie, Elliott Alexander and Macy Alexander; brother Haston Alexander and wife Alma, Red Rock; sister Imogene Brackin and husband Dink, Town Creek; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Emanuel, Clifton, Coolidge Alexander and sisters Geneva Buttrum and Bessie Mae McCorkle.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Mac Murphy, Will Alexander, Elliott Alexander, and nephews Bill Alexander, Joe McCorkle, Waylon Alexander and Greg Young.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ricky Irons, Dr. Andrew Pritchard, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Sean Rhuland, Dr. Rajesh Boorgu and the entire staff at ECM ICU.
