Obituary

*Graveside service for Margaret Lewis Pettus, 97, of Moulton will be Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Moulton Memory Gardens with Rod Morgan officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday 6 until 8 at the funeral home. *Mrs. Pettus, who died April 26, 2007, at her home, was born October 24, 1909, in Huntsville to Irby and Rose Moore Lewis. She influenced many lives having taught school at Joe Bradley in Huntsville, Redstone Arsenal during World War II, Chalybeate Springs, Moulton Elementary and West Decatur Elementary, as well as teaching kindergarten at her home. *Mrs. Pettus was a member of Moulton First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Tennessee Valley Historical Society, and was instrumental in bringing Alcoholics Anonymous to North Alabama. She was the widow of Thomas Coleman Pettus, who in his wartime letters to her would say, "always know I love you with all my heart, more than everything and everybody."Her brother, Ashton Lewis; and sister, Elanor Heintz, also preceded her in death. *She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Pettus Burch and husband Jack; her son, Thomas Coleman Pettus III; her grandson, Jackie Forrest Burch and wife, Belinda; her granddaughter, Margaret Lynn "Meg" Payne and husband, Tom; her grandson, Robert Coleman Burch and wife, Tonya; and six great-grandchildren, Forrest Burch, Sallie Beth Burch, Nathan Payne, Emily Payne, Coleman Burch and Brylee Burch; and two step grandchildren,Netherland Adams and RobbyAdams. *Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons
