Decatur
Funeral for Chester J. Kubina, 84, of Decatur will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Father McMahan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Rosary will be Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Kubina, who died Thursday, June 14, 2012, was born October 15, 1927, in North Tonawanda, N.Y. to John and Francis Kubina. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He retired from 3M after 35 years and then owned and operated an apartment complex. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Lee Kubina; two sons, Daniel J. Kubina and Chester John Kubina Jr.; and one brother, Edward Kubina.
Survivors include one son, Major John C. Kubina Ret. (Lang); one daughter, Linda Lee Kubina; three grandchildren, Lisa Morris (Carl), Quyen Kubina and Kimberly Whitlock (Chad); six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Gabrielle, Brynn, Samuel, Abigail and Clara.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Joiner, Tommy Lewey, Clarence "Clem" Hoefler, Carl Morris and Chad Whitlock.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama, Vietnam Veterans Association or the American Cancer Society .
