Christene H. Crockett, passed away January 3 at ECM Hospital at the age of 95.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 12-2PM at Elkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2PM in the Chapel with Rev. Chris Weldon officiating. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence.
She was born May 10, 1915 to Henry M. Haynes, Sr. and Rhoda Anne Haynes in Walker County, Alabama. Christene spent her youth in Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Haleyville Oklahoma; returning to her home state in her early twenties.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry M. Haynes, Jr.; and son-in-law, Norman E. Hollis.
Survivors include daughter, Nancy C. Hollis; grandsons, Robert Blair Hollis (Barbara), Norman Lee Hollis (Sandra), and David Paul Hollis (Tammy); great grandchildren, Robert K. Hollis (Amber), Ashley Hollis Everett (Evan), Brandon Hollis, Dalaney Hollis, and Weston Hollis; great-great-grandchildren, Taryn Hollis, Ben, and Drevin; brother, Bobby N. Haynes; nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Haynes.
Mrs. Crockett was employed forty years at TVA where she retired from the position of Supervisor of Payroll, Fertilizer Center in 1981. She was a founding member of Parkway Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities.
Christene enjoyed many interests including community service. Her lifelong priority was her devotion to family.
