Mrs. Cleo Murphy McDaniel, of Florence, passed away at her home Thursday, February 18, 2010. On May 24th of this year she would have celebrated her 100th birthday.
The graveside service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pisgah Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Springer and Dr. Rev. Mike Hendon officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. McDaniel was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ and enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and planting and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. She was an interesting storyteller and enjoyed quilting and sewing and cooking supper for her family each Wednesday night.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Hudson Murphy and Ada Atkinson Murphy; husband Edward McDaniel; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty McDaniel Oakley and Robert Oakley; siblings and spouses, Harper Murphy, Edwin Murphy and wife Ida, Roscoe Murphy and wife Lula, Ajack Murphy and Vernon, Clifford Murphy and Mildred, Blaine Murphy and wife Gladys, Amos Murphy and Ruby, and Addie Murphy.
She is survived by grandsons Mike Oakley and wife Tina, Florence, and Tim Oakley and wife Willie, Decatur; great-grandchildren Stratton Oakley, John Oakley, and Jacob Oakley.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Hanback, Brownie Brown, Eugene (Bubba) Garner, Jerry McDaniel, Larry Murphy, and Vance Wesson. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith McDaniel, Joel Lee Murphy, Jimmy Abernathy, Don Murphy, and William Abernathy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lyman Mitchell, nurse practitioner Pam Hill, Cindy, Kelli, Sherry and Dr. Mike of Hospice of Tennessee Valley, caregivers Terrye McGee Hanback, Doris Littleton, and Bonnie Hill, and a special niece, Linda Murphy Hanson.
