Cora Lee Thigpen, age 101, of Florence passed away on Monday December 15, 2008.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2008 at 2 pm at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel in Florence with Bro. Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on this day from 1 pm until 2 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thigpen is preceded in death by her husband Willie J. Thigpen, her parents, James Pink and Myrtle Ross Robertson, her sons, Elmer "Mo" Thigpen and J. R. Thigpen, her daughter, Edna Frankie Pollard, her sisters, Snow Cabler and Frankie Williams and her brothers, George, Joe, and Jesse Robertson.. She was a faithful member of Eastwood Church of Christ.
Mrs. Thigpen is survived by her daughters, Eloise Davis (Marion) and Tillie Sandlin; her sons, Cecil Thigpen (Barbara) and Willie "Bunny" Thigpen; her sister, Vernie Peppers; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mark Sandlin, Kevin Thigpen, and William Thigpen; her great grandsons, Davis Sandlin, Jonathan Lawson, and Jacob Weatherly. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Farris, Steve Ford, Bruce Lawson, Greg Weatherly, and Lance Grissett.
