Obituary

Deedie Phillips May age 84 of Florence passed away on March 12, 2012, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer''s. Visitation will be Friday March 16 from 6pm till 8pm at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be Saturday March 17 at 2pm at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel with Norman "Sonny"Hargett officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Deedie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed being outdoors. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her Husband Herschel Neil May Sr. and Son, Herschel Neil "Doc" May Jr., her parents Charlie C and Hattie Mae Phillips, four brothers and three sisters. Her survivors include one son, Kevin Paul May of Florence and four daughters, Brenda May Goodwin and husband Byrom of Huntsville, Teresa Dianne Bevis of Florence, Sherry May Chase of Rogersville and Mona May Isom and husband Rusty of Madison. Three brothers, Donald Phillips and wife Virginia, Jack Phillips, Elvis Phillips and wife Jean and one sister, Barbara Phillips also survive. Her nine grandchildren are Griffin Goodwin and wife Melissa, Anna Goodwin Settle and husband Jack, Whitney Evans, Chappell Evans, Sarah Isom, Adam Isom, Herschel N. May III and wife Vicki, Kyle May and wife Amy, and Lindsey May,as well as five great grandchildren, Watson Goodwin, Hannah Thornton, Meagan Thornton, Lila Rose Settle and Ethan May, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Byrom Goodwin, Rusty Isom, Griffin Goodwin, Adam Isom, Herschel May III and Jack Settle. Honorary bearers will be Elvis Phillips, Jack Phillips, Donald Phillips and Kyle May. Special thanks to Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home and staff who so lovingly cared for her and to Hospice of the Shoals and staff. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer''s Foundation of America,Alzheimer's Association P.O.
