Diane Fountain Vess, age 61, passed away on October 11, 2026, after a twelve-year battle with COPD and other ailments. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Wayne Fountain, and her aunt, Margaret Thrift. She is survived by her husband, James Vess, her mother, Judy Fountain, her three daughters, Kimberly Dianne Taylor (Chris), Brandi Renee Judd, and Stefani Michelle Guthrie (Dee), and her brother, Luke Fountain. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Hallie Grace Taylor, Gabriel Christopher Taylor, Colin Michael Judd (Carneshia), Anthony Paul Judd, Sarah Nicole Judd, Isaiah Judd, Nicholas Judd, and two great-grandchildren, Adrian Judd and Aaliyah Judd. Diane was a vibrant woman who loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was generous, often surprising her children and grandchildren with gifts, phone chargers, and little things she thought they might enjoy. She loved her pets and enjoyed raising chickens and listening to music. A celebration of Diane's life will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 1:00 to 4:00 at N Wood Avenue Rec Center located at 420 N Royal Avenue, Florence, AL. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories, celebrate her life, and honor the joy and laughter she brought to those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Diane's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
