Don R. Snook
Decatur Don R. Snook, 81 of Decatur passed away Aug. 18, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hal Daigre officiating. Interment will follow in Decatur City Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Don was born and raised in Rolfe, Iowa. He was born Jan. 21, 1935 to Paul and Clinnie Severns Snook who both precede him in death He joined the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran with the Naval Air Unit. He came to Alabama to work for Redstone Arsenal. Following that he supervised several jobs at nuclear plants and various other construction sites. He also served as an instructor teaching pipefitting/steamfitting for Local 740. When he retired, he spent approximately 10 years volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Mr Snook was a longstanding member of the American Legion. He was a great man who has now joined his wife, Shirley Settle Snook in Heaven. He is also preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Sue Snook and Kathy Snook Adams and one grandson, Logan Ward. Four brothers precede him in death, William "Bill" Snook, Wayne Snook, Larry Snook and Glenn Snook and five sisters, Virginia Snook Marine, Lavon "Peg" Snook Widstrup, Wanda Snook and Beverly Snook Williams.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Snook Turrentine; two sons, William Bill Snook and Vernon Snook; two brothers, Delmer Snook and Paul Snook; one sister, Ethel Snook Costa. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Crow, Jason Denton, Tyler Snook, James West, Jeremy West, Travis Stewart, Lucus Adams and Brian Adams.
