Funeral for Donald Freeman Armstrong, 84, of Bankhead Forest will be Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Elliott Funeral Home, with Elder Tony Pitts and Charlie Watkins officiating. Burial will be in McLemore Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Armstrong, who died April 9, 2008 was born November 18, 1923 in Bakersfield, CA to Freeman Emmitt and Annie Dora Thompson Armstrong. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Muscle Shoals after 27 years of service. He was a Pied Piper of children and a Helper of mankind. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward (Jack) Armstrong, and brothers, Bill, Josh and Edwin Armstrong. Survivors include his wife Jewel Tanksley Armstrong, children, Darryl and Mary Armstrong, Lynnda & Tim Owens, Vickey & Steve Lundy, Sandra Armstrong, Donna & Glenn Hughes, Dayton & Vickie Armstrong, Clayton Armstrong; brother, Dale Armstrong; sisters, Grace Armstrong, Ann Dutton, Jane Armstrong and Shirley Clifton; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Herbert, Joe, Mike, Josh, Bryan and David; Honorary pallbearer, Caleb. Flower girls will be granddaughters, Heather, Jessica, Karen, McKenzie, Chelsey and Paige. Great grandchildren, Kirsten, John, Maegan, Daniel, Grayson, Gibson, Alden, Caroline, Drezden, Jackson, Kayee, Laura, Anna & Natalie.
