Donnie Terry Decatur
Funeral service for Donnie Terry, 65, of Decatur will be Monday, March 14, 2011, at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Scott Payne officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Terry, who died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, was born November 23, 1945, in Decatur to Hurley H. Terry and Opal Birdsong Terry. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War earning a Bronze Star. Mr. Terry was a Tool and Dye maker and machinist at Prestolite and retired from M & D Mechanical Contractors in May 2010. He was an avid Auburn fan and Ford enthusiast. Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Hurley Terry, his grandparents, Clyde Roland Terry and Flora Ann Sherrill Terry and Newt Wright Birdsong and Grace Whitlock Birdsong.
Survivors include his wife, Sheron James Terry; son Donnie Terry II; his mother, Opal Birdsong Terry,; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be, Luke Hamilton, Nathan Brown, Tim James, Ricky James, David Jones and Ryan Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are John Williams, Charlie Shirley and Tommy Coleman.
