Doris Elizabeth Jones

January 5, 1929, Doris Elizabeth Jones was born in Lenox, near Repton, in Conecuh County, Alabama. She grew up on a farm. Her mother died when she was 8, but her father, Riley Wesley Nall remarried Jadie Mason in 1941. Miss Jadie was a great mother to Doris.

After attending high school, she got a job at a store in Greenville. There she met Kendrick Walter Jones (KW) who had recently returned from the US Navy in WW II. They married in October 19 th of 1947. They moved to Montgomery where KW worked several jobs before a career with the Montgomery Police Department. After retiring from the City, he worked for the Montgomery County Court system.  After years as a stay at home mom and two children, Marvin, and Patricia, Doris began a job in retail sales where she loved working with people.

When KW retired from the County, Doris retired also. They got a camping trailer and loved traveling, especially camping with friends at Wind Creek State Park near Alex City. She also loved to cook and her family and friends will testify what a great cook she was.

Upon getting older and having to stop camping, Doris and KW moved to Decatur to be near their daughter Patricia and husband, Terry Mount. They loved north Alabama. In 2014, KW passed away. Doris loved spending time with Patricia and Terry, Grandson Chris, wife Amy and grandchildren.

In late 2020, Terry became ill and Pat became a fulltime caregiver. Doris, who by this time required more care, moved to Prattville to live with her son Marvin and wife Glory. She spent her final days enjoying his family and their children (Jeffery, Greg, and Beth).

Doris celebrated her 92 birthday on January 5 th . She went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 19 th, 2021
