IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dot
Devine
September 16, 1930 – October 25, 2024
Dorothy Jean (Dot) DeVine, age 94, of Decatur, went to be with God on
October 25, 2024.
Since childhood, she had a servant's heart, always caring for others. You
would never leave her home hungry, and usually with a to-go box. She
never met a stranger and was always eager to introduce you to others. Her
relationships with others were genuine and lasting. She and Paul were
married for 73 years. She was active in choir and teaching as a longtime
member of both Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and Southside Baptist
Church. Dot enjoyed gardening and sewing, but her greatest passion was
caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed an
opportunity to spend time with them, either taking them places or just
playing UNO at her home. It was there that she taught her grandchildren
two of life's lessons, Winning & Losing. That you don't always win… but
she did! Dot was born on September 16, 1930, in Hanceville, AL, to the late Lonnie and Berlie Bland-McGlawn. She is survived by two daughters, Paulette DeVine, and Julie Albright (Tim), four grandchildren, Eric Albright (Pam),
Jeremy Albright (Ashley), Jeffrey Albright (Amber), Erin Mosher (Zach), and
seven Great Grandchildren: Avery Albright, Caroline Albright, Charis
Albright, Analeigh Albright, Darrell Albright-Gooden, Holland Mosher, and
Charlotte Mosher.
The family will receive friends at Southside Baptist Church on Tuesday,
October 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin
at 11:00 AM, being officiated by her grandsons, Pastors Eric, Jeremy, and
Jeffrey Albright. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Family request in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Alabama Baptist
Children's Home or UAB Children's Hospital.
