Doug Burchell, 78, of Elgin died Friday, May 26, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2023, 6-8 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 28, 2023, 2 PM at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with Bro. Brandon Britton and Bro. Andy Erwin officiating. Burial will be at Butler Cemetery.

Doug was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and served as a Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Vader Lou Burchell, sisters Laverne Martin, Virginia "Sammie" Burchell, Betty Richardson, Geneva Bedingfield, Rhoda Lyles, Bessie Williamson, brothers Junior Burchell, Mailon Burchell, Ellis Burchell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Burchell; children, Steven (Katrina) Burchell and Karen (Stacy) Childress; grandchildren, Jake Childress, Charlie (Kelsey) Childress, Buddy (Hannah) Burchell, Megan (Holden) Stanfield, Lily Burchell, Sara Childress, Molly Burchell, Baker Burchell; great grandson, Hudson Childress; sisters, Judy (Doyce) Richardson, Mauvoline Skipworth, and Joyce Hobbs; brother, Clayton Burchell.

Pallbearers will be Jake Childress, Charlie Childress, Buddy Burchell, Baker Burchell, Holden Stanfield, Tyler Ezell.
