Douglas Edward Richardson, age 71, of Florence passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The family will receive friends at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence on Sunday, October 5 from noon until 2:00 P.M. with a memorial service held immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Florence and a graduate of Coffee High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was the owner of Doug Richardson Photography/Portraits Ltd. since 1969, specializing in bridal photography and portraiture. In recent years, he was best known for capturing the local flavor of events such as First Fridays, WC Handy Festival, Helen Keller Festival, Renaissance Faire, as well as many other events, through his beautiful photography.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie P. (Joe) Richardson; mother, Ruby Eleanor Richardson; and grandmother, Martha Winifred Webb.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Jackie Rice (Rick) of Florence and Julie Richardson of Birmingham. He is also survived by cousins James Carson and Gene Frazier (Jodi) of Florence, Charles Frazier (Linda) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Jauneze Gist of Chapin, South Carolina, Dr. Suellen Lee of Columbia, Tennessee and dear friendsJim Brooks of Killen and Richard Conwill (Nancy) of Knoxville, Tennessee as well as numerous other cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jerry James, Joey James, Jim Brooks, Richard Conwill, Joe Darby, and Toby Britt.
