Decatur
Funeral service for Edgar A. Verchot, 90, of Decatur will be Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Angela Teal officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Verchot, who died Sunday December 27, 2015 was born on January 21, 1925, in Alabama to Alphonse Henry Verchot and Nena Milstead Verchot. He was a member of Moss Chapel United Methodist Church. He graduated with Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemistry from Auburn University. He was retired from the U. S. Army Missile Command.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Elizabeth Adele Bass Verchot.
Survivors include two sons: Edgar A. Verchot Jr. and wife Deborah and Richard A. Verchot and wife Lucinda, one daughter: Martha E. Verchot, seven grandchildren: Edgar, Lori, Eric, Eileen, John, Mary Beth and Brian and six Great-Grandchildren.
