Edward Joseph "Pops" Carden Decatur Funeral for Edward Joseph "Pops" Carden, 90, of Decatur will be today, November 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Phillip Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Carden, who died Friday, November 5, 2010, was born May 5, 1920, in Scranton, Pa., to Michael Leo Carden and Theresa Munley Carden. Mr. Carden was a World War II veteran who served in the 8th Air Force in England. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and also loved the River City Eagles. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan. His wife, Daisy Felter Carden, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Joanne Svarney (Richard); one son, Michael Carden (Debbie); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick Svarney, Dan Svarney, Andy Svarney, Randy Prestwood, Doc Gist and Greg Maples.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael T. Carden and the River City Eagles
