Funeral for Edward Myrl Hughes, 89, of Decatur will be today, April 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mr. Hughes, who died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Decatur General Hospital, was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Morgan County to James Martin Hughes and Mae Shirley Hughes. He was a member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 15. His wife, Edith Crowe Hughes, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Steelman and husband, Jerry, and Jamie McDonald and husband, Virgil; four grandchildren, Chris Steelman, Jennifer Steelman, Leslie Evans and Lindsey Doss; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Steelman. Pallbearers will be Danny Crowe, Elliott Hughes, Raybon Johnson, Henry Speegle, Chris Steelman and Jerry Smith.
