Edward Ray Stockton, 86, passed away peacefully in his mome March 2, 2018.  Mr. Stockton  graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1949, where he was a versatile athlete.  He lettered in baseball, football and basketball for 4 years. He went on to play five years of professional baseball.  He was a member of the inaugural class of inductees into the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame.  He was a strong Christian example to his friends and family.  Pleasant Grove Baptist Church was his church home, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.  His carpentry skills were used to serve many in his community.  He was a long time home builder and had a home featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine.  He was married to his high school sweetheart, Faye McCarthy Stockton for 68 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was known to all by "Ray Ray".  Services will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Sunday March 4, at 3:00 pm.  with Dr. Tommie Whitlow and Bro. Neil Carter.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
