Mrs. Edythe Marie Weeks Edwards, 89, of Florence, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009.
The family will receive friends at Elkins Funeral Home on Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The Rev. Gary Formby will officiate. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Lawrenceburg, TN and was reared in Florence. She was a graduate of Coffee High School and the University of Alabama and taught briefly. While at the University, she met the love of her life, Bruce W. Edwards, Sr. and they were married.
Edythe enjoyed the lake, flower gardening, the outdoors and especially golf and held the distinction of having two holes-in-one. She and Bruce were charter members of Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club. She was the owner of Edwards Properties, LLC. She enjoyed the contemporary worship service at First United Methodist Church, Florence.
She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Emily Edwards and husband Doug Mokaren, Greensboro, NC; sons, Bruce Edwards, Jr and wife Barbara, Leoma, TN, Bobby Edwards and wife Ann, Florence and Blane Edwards and wife Barbara, Florence; grandchildren, Angelynn Edwards Tinsley and husband Bryan, Nashville, Brandon Edwards and fiance Kara Ryan, Nashville, TN, Ryan Edwards and wife Heather, Brentwood, TN, Mandy Edwards and fianc Scott Caruso, Lakeland, FL, Marissa Mokaren, Greensboro, NC, Alex and Owen Edwards, Florence.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Bryan Tinsley, Alex Edwards, B.G. Staggs and Bill Glock.
The family would like to thank Fannie Cooper, Regency Villa and Glenwood Convalescent Center for the special care given their mother.
