Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Rainey King died Monday, March 1, 2009 at her home in Greenwood, Mississippi.
A private graveside service will be at the Florence Cemetery on Wednesday with the Rev. Bob Murray officiating. Visitation will follow from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the atrium of the First United Methodist Church, Florence.
Betty was born in Columbia, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace Rainey. She graduated from Vanderbilt University where she was a homecoming queen. In 1944 she moved to Florence and began work in the lab at TVA during World War II. She was married to the late William Shepard King and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Florence. She was an avid tennis player and gardener.
Survivors include daughters, Betsy Murray and husband Bob, Gallant, Alabama and Susan Gregory and husband Tommy, Greenwood, Mississippi; grandchildren, William Murray and wife Jennifer, Andrew Murray and wife Laura, Benjamin Murray and wife Maria, Durden Pillow, Elizabeth Pillow, Thomas Gregory, and Anna Gregory; five great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Kirk, Nashville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Frances Rainey, Knoxville, Tennessee.
