Elizabeth "Bizzy" Piper
Decatur Elizabeth "Bizzy" Piper, 82, of Decatur, died in peace on May 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Piper, and two of her sons, Michael Piper and James Piper. She was born in Croghan, New York, on March 5, 1934, to Helen and Anselm Becker, both of whom preceded her in death.
Bizzy married William in 1956 in Florida. In 1964 they moved to Decatur where she was a stay at home mom who proudly raised her eight children. She went back to work and eventually retired as a secretary at Central United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong Catholic and faithful member of Annunciation of The Lord Catholic Church.
Surviving Bizzy are her children, Kathy Bonds, of Decatur, Julie (Tom) Carpenter, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Krissy (Austin) Drinkall, of Mishawaka, Indiana, Jennifer (Jayme) Lartigue, of Chelsea, Alabama, Suzanne (Patrick) Cooley, of Vernon, Alabama, and Steven Piper, of Decatur; her brother, Harry Becker, of Carthage, New York, also survives. Bizzy also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, May 9, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown Service Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Father Ray Remke will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Annunciation of The Lord Catholic Church. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Bonds, Andrew Bonds, Isaac Piper, Jayme Lartigue, Patrick Cooley, and Jay Stone.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of NHC Healthcare, Moulton and Hospice of North Alabama who took such great care of her during her illness.
