Elliott M. Bass, 87, of Florence passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. John Brock and Bro. Chris Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Garden.

A member of Highland Baptist Church, Elliott''s love of the Lord and singing the gospel led him to serve as a deacon and the minister of music for many years at his previous churches. For 38 years, he and his wife operated Bass Big Star in Tuscumbia, where they made many life-long friends.

Elliott is survived by his wife, Martha; daughter, Pam McGrady (Carl); grandson, Lucas McGrady; granddaughter, Anna Kate Stumpe (Bradley); great-grandchildren, Colton and Rane McGrady; special brother-in-law, Marvin Thigpen (Elizabeth); special sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCanless and Mary Jane Fowler (Philip); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Pearl Bass; several brothers and sisters; and his beloved English Bulldog, Mack.

Pallbearers will be Lucas McGrady, Bradley Stumpe, Greg McCanless, Adam McCanless, Lane McCanless, Jerry Campbell, and Warren Fowler.

Special thanks are given to all the nurses at Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care given to Elliott.
