Funeral for Elwin "Ed" Widner, 87, of Danville will be Wednesday at 11 am at Ridout's Brown's Funeral Home with Tim Rice officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Cemetery. There will be a visitation Wednesday at 10 am.
Mr. Widner died Thursday, Nov 2, 2023, at his home. He was born April 16, 1936 to Dave Widner and Sarah Vandergriff Widner. He graduated from Cullman High School in 1954. Mr. Widner served in the U.S. Navy. He was an Alabama State Trooper, but spent the majority of his career in the grocery industry. He was the father of the late Dale Widner and the brother of the late L.D. Widner, Charles Buck Widner, Winford Widner, Lucille Hamrick, Betty Cornett and Geneva Price.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his fur baby, Bitsy. He was an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He is survived by his wife, Frances Lott; three sons, Steve Widner (Angela), Rodney Widner (Kathy), and Randall Lott; two daughters, Danielle Robinson (Stacy) and Angela Lott; three grandsons, Michael Hitt, Patrick Hitt and Alex Hitt; and five granddaughters, Jennifer Tillery, Emma Tillery, Jasmine Ferrell, Taylor Rundell and Alissa Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Randall Lott, Michael Hitt, Patrick Hitt, Ryan Tillery, Rodney Widner and Jimmy Myers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
