The service for Mrs. Emma Ophelia Heupel of Florence will be at 2:00pm Friday, August 14, 2009 in the Chapel of Elkins Funeral Home, Florence with Bro. Sonny Bogus and Bro Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Rogers Chapel Cemetery. The Heupel family will receive friends Thursday evening August 13 from 6-9pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Heupel was born June 23, 1909; she passed away August 11, 2009 at the age of 100. Mrs. Heupel was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of Cloverdale Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Marion Cobb and Robert Heupel; parents, Emery & Virgie Lawson; sons, James M. Cobb & Lloyd Reeder Heupel; brother, Lloyd Lawson; sisters, Lena Barker, Lorraine Smith, Etoile Smith & Stella Smith; grandson, Robert Wayne Heupel.
Mrs. Heupel is survived by her children, Mildred Heupel Hendrix of Cloverdale and Charles Robert Heupel and wife Barbara of Leoma, TN; sister, Thelma Rhodes; 9 surviving grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; 2 expected great-great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.
Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be her grandsons, Elders of Cloverdale Church of Christ and the late Eldred Holt.
