Mrs. Emma Lou Nichols, 77, of Florence passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at ECM Hospital.
Funeral service will be Sunday at First United Pentecostal Church on Broadway Street at 2:00 P.M. She will lie in state from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. Rev. Dennis Ivy will officiate. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Elkins Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00- 9:00 p.m.
Emma Lou loved to read and was a workaholic, but her family always came first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and she took her dog Precious every where she went. She is preceded in death by her parents; Connie E. and Lillie Doles, sons, Paul Luther, Jackie, and Richard Nichols, brothers; James and Ed Doles.
Emma Lou is survived by her children; Rena Pennington (Don), Littleville, AL, Darlene Blanton, Hampton, GA, Larry Nichols (Shelia), Florence, AL. Donnie Nichols (Sarah), Sheffield, AL. Grandchildren: Connie Terry (Ray), Amy Nichols, John Flaherty (Crystal), Heather Pennington, Miranda, Ashley Smith (Thomas), Randall, Karlee, Kortnee Faith and Chasity Nichols. Great- grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Terry, Dylan, Giovonni Koger, Tristin, Brittany and Chesny Flaherty, Hunter. Sister; Alice Chandler (Frank), Mobile, AL. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Randall Nichols, Herman Terry, Michael Ivy, Freddie Moss, Russell Castile and Gaylon Ivy.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses on 2nd West, ICU, and her Doctors for their outstanding care.
