Obituary

Erline Rice age 100, died December 28, 2008. She was born in Florence, Alabama, March 9, 1908. She was a graduate of Coffee High School; received her B.S.degree from Florence State Teachers College ( UNA); and her MA from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee.
She was a school teacher for 42 years. Most of her teaching years were in Lauderdale County (Oakland ). However, she was employed by War Foods in Atlanta, Georgia, one year and taught in Auburndale, Florida, for two years.
She was a member of North Wood United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Frances Rice; father, John R. Rice; one brother, Winston Rice; three sisters, Elsie M. Rice, Elizabeth Call, and Myrtle Moore; a niece, Mary E. Irons; and a nephew, John W. Rice.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Clingan and Alma Ruth Rice; two nieces, Beverly Ann Thomason and Mary Ann Bragwell (Tommy); and three nephews, Gene Call (Gail); Bill Clingan (Pat), Mike Clingan (Teresa) and many great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews and family members.
One hour visitation will be Tuesday December 30, from 10:00 till 11:00 am at Elkins Funeral Home Florence. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m.in the chapel, with the Reverend Peter Hawker officiating. Burial will follow at Walston Cemetery, Oakland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude''s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or a charity of your choice.
